Packard Bell
What is it with Packard Bell…?
If i get one more person asking me to fix there PC and it turns out to be a Packard Bell running Windows ME then i might just scream!!!
The latest one i was roped into fixing… She couldn’t set up a dial-up internet account because windows couldn’t detect a modem.
Fair enough!
Went into device manager – the modem is installed. Works fine according to the diagnostics. Try to set up a dialup account. Windows cannot find a modem….
Repeat 10 times changing a few settings…. still nothing!
Ended up using one of most popular phrases when dealing with people on the phone:
‘Fuck it, I’ll come down and fix it if you buy me a beer’.
Its now sitting on my desk waiting to be fixed (ie having XP put on it)
I Bladdy Love It
Tony sent me this joke so i thought i’d stick it on here.
If you now where it came from then i’ll credit you.
If not, I made it up myself
A young man moved into a new apartment, and went to the lobby to put his name on his mailbox.
While he was there, an attractive young lady came out of the apartment next to the mailboxes wearing a robe. The young man smiled at the young woman, and she started a conversation with him.
As they talked, her robe slipped open, and it was obvious that she had nothing else on. The poor kid broke into a sweat trying not to stare.
After a few minutes, she placed her hand on his arm and said, ‘I hear someone coming. Let’s go into my apartment.’
He followed her in, and she closed the door and leaned against it, letting her robe fall off. Now nude, she purred at him, ‘what would you say is my best feature?’
He finally squeaked, ‘It’s got to be your ears.’
She said, ‘my ears? Look at these breasts. They’re full and 100% natural. I work out every day, my butt is firm and solid, and look at my skin – no blemishes anywhere. How can you say the best part of my body is my ears??
Clearing his throat, he stammered, ‘Outside, when you said you heard someone coming? That was me.’
Holiday in France: The Language Barrier
Ok – You’re going to France. Being able to speak the language is always helpful. Not a problem we thought, Clint did A-Level French!
True, he hadn’t done too much in about 6 years so was a bit rusty but he managed to sort out the camp site quite well while the rest of us stood around in complete ignorance with polite smiles on our faces…
What he forgot to mention was that he sometimes has mental blocks and just swaps back into English…
We were walking back from the beach with our inflatable boat (I’m 25 going on 10) and the old Lady that ran the souvenier-type shop at the enterence to the camp site starts talking to us. We can all manage a bit of casual French ‘nice day’, ‘is this your baguette?’ type of thing, but soon it was only Clint who was still talking to her.
All of a sudden she said something really long and complecated sounding. We all stare at Clint expecting him to reply. After about a minute of silence he says in English ‘We didn’t even go in the sea’.
At least the people at the take away spoke English…
The boys go to France: Part I
Well, heres the first proper post, and as its a big un I’ve broken it down into a few posts.
We decided to go camping in France for two weeks. I’ve been before and it has a lot going for it, cheap beer and wine, nice beaches, good food and cheap beer!
We were pretty prepared this time (last two times Tony slept in the car cos his tent fell down…) and got ourselves a tent, ferry tickets, a map or two and some anti-diarrhea tablets…
We had to do it properly though so we didn’t bother booking a camp site or even deciding on a town to go to. We set off (two hours late cos Clint needed a shower) and caught the ferry. We got to France and drove down through the night. As it turned out we ended up near Royan on the south west coast. I used to go down there with my Mum and Dad so knew the way round the town and where to find stuff. We got a camp site that was fairly cheap and set up the tent.
Compared to other drives to France I’ve done, it went fairly smoothly. I went through this fairly quickly cos it’s basically boring – but you have to set the scene! (maybe I WAS paying attention in English Literature)
From here on in, it was a bit more ‘interesting’. More soon…
The Blog is finished!
Well, I finished writing the Blog (erm.. the Programming for it, as opposed to anything to put on it!)
I’ll be putting a few posts on it over the next few days, just to get the ball rolling kind of thing.
Some of the things that come to mind are our holiday to France a couple of weeks ago (might split it accross a few posts just for the sake of it) and maybe the trip to Manchester (ok, it was months ago, but it was a good weekend!)
More posts soon!
