What is it with Packard Bell…?
If i get one more person asking me to fix there PC and it turns out to be a Packard Bell running Windows ME then i might just scream!!!
The latest one i was roped into fixing… She couldn’t set up a dial-up internet account because windows couldn’t detect a modem.
Fair enough!
Went into device manager – the modem is installed. Works fine according to the diagnostics. Try to set up a dialup account. Windows cannot find a modem….
Repeat 10 times changing a few settings…. still nothing!
Ended up using one of most popular phrases when dealing with people on the phone:
‘Fuck it, I’ll come down and fix it if you buy me a beer’.
Its now sitting on my desk waiting to be fixed (ie having XP put on it)
