Skiing in Les Arcs 2000: Part 2
Right, time for part two. It might be worth reading part one if you haven´t already…
We started off by heading down to Les Arcs 1950 (the next resort down t mountain) and went to Luigis bar for a couple of pints of Stella. After that we headed back up to our resort and went to the Red Rock Cafe (it´s actually a bar).
Food was not bad but more importantly – lots of wine and beer. Ended up getting quite pissed and me and Clint started playing pool. Luckily I was still sober enough to order a few more carafs of wine. Me and Clint then thought we´d challenge the others to a game of doubles. Chris and Cath took up the challenge so we bet them that if they beat us I´d do a black (difficult) run the next day. We then found out that Chris used to be the captain of his pool team. Arse. Just managed to wing it though.
On the way back to the chalet later, we came accross a load of the group at the top of the lifts hanging around. Turns out that Jenny and Beany had managed to get stuck in the lift! Ace.
The doors were open a little bit but they were just below the floor level. We tried a few mission impossible stylee attempts to get them out but ended up just slicing my fingers open, so we waited for about an hour for an engineer to get them out. It wasn´t all boring though. Jenny farted on Beany. After that we went back and necked a load more wine.
The next day we were way too hung over to even walk let alone ski so we headed back to the Red Rock for some food. On the way Clint translated the sign on the lift. It said "Out of order: Vandalised". We were resquing dammit, not vandalising!!!
Spent most of the rest of the day doing sod all. Dinner > pissed > bed. Friday was the last day of skiing. In the lessons we went up to 3200m, to the top of the mountain. The views were amazing. Since the runs up there were pretty steep we came down a bit further and did a red and a few blues back down to the bottom.
In the afternoon we headed out again with the experienced guys. We went right up to the top and did a red and black run. It was fucking awesome! Decided to do a few of the bigger blue runs on my own to finish off and then headed back for the last night.
We had an awards ceremony after dinner and gave prezzies to Jen and Jenny for doing all the organising. Clint one "most amusing suntan" (pic on here soon) and I won "Most metalist" (we got others too!). We then got absolutely slaughtered. Woke up in the morning with a sore face and bruised knuckles. Asked Clint why. He said I´d probably been fighting with Beany. Tuens out we were doing body slides across the contrete floor and Clint jumped on top of me…
Woke up the next day with a bad hangover again and headed to Red Rock for breakfast. Got a free absynth and was pissed again. Packed and then spent the day travelling home. Got back without much happening apart from finding Tony´s car with a flat battery cos he left the radio on. Great.
That´s about it really. Probably missed loads but I´m off down the Hart again now. Toodles
Return to France: Les Arcs 2000
Holiday time again. France again. Skiing this time!
After all the initial confusion with things like us only remembering that we were going a week before, not knowing which airport to go to, who had our tickets, what they looked like… we managed to actually get there! (Thanks Jenny, Jen and Emma for organising it all and helping us get sorted out)
After we got there, got the rooms sorted out and got settled in (finding out I had actually packed anything useful was a nice suprise – I did it an hour before we left after being in the Hart for six hours), we headed to the first bar we could find (got a reputation you know). Finished the first day by going to the chalet for dinner. The food was amazing all week, three course meals every day, along with (more importantly) free wine!
Next morning we went to our first ski lesson. We were in the beginners group since me and Tony had skiid (fuck knows how you spell that) for about 6 hours and Clint had never done it before. The first day was alright, learning how to go down a nursery slope without failing over basically. The afternoon was just a case of > bar > dinner > pissed > bed.
The next day was pretty much the same. The day after, we did the lessons in the morning then some of us beginners went out with the more experienced skiiers and boarders. It was an absolute blast! We did some more blue runs (easy) just getting used to it then racing Jenny, then they decided that I wasn´t going to hurt myself unless we moved up to reds (medium). That´s when it got really fun! I fell over once and bent my ski pole with my ass but apart from that didn´t really hurt myself. We did do a slalom run and tried a few jumps on a half-pipe (didn´t work).
After that we ended up accidently going off-piste by a red run. About half way down I skiid over a little ridge, down a massive slope and then into a snow drift. I didn´t feel as bad when a few seconds later Beany did the same thing and ended up on his back with his legs in the air! Class.
A bit further down we found out we weren´t sure where we were going. Beany said "Jenny just went over that ridge and disappeared. Go for it." Cheers Bean, very helpful…
By the time we made it down to the bottom my legs were absolutely killing me and I had to nearly crawl back to the chalet. Brilliant day out though. The next day I just did the lessons and had the afternoon off and took it easy. That night was the chalet hosts night off so we went out.
To be continued…
Lying on the floor in a pub toilet
So we were in the White Hart and started to notice that people were hanging around the blokes toilets for some reason and then the bar maids starting going in as well.
Hmmm… thats a bit unusual we thought. After a bit of investigation it turned out that Alan had passed out and smacked his head! (Not screech, the other one).
He seemed to be OK though and managed to walk to the ambulance with the paramedics. First person in the White Hart to end up on the floor without being absolutely mashed. Nice one!
Oh, and Jason was saying again that he hasn’t been mentioned on here yet so here goes. He’s the one who likes boys
Snorting Aftershock
Finally got round to getting more of the random videos off my mobile.
First one is Big Al snorting-aftershock for those that missed it!
