Watching Bones last night reminded me of toilet training the kids, it started with a girl who was scared to go to the toilet on her own and then when her father finally manages to convince her to go on her own she discovers body parts floating in the toilet. If that had happened in reality the child would have been traumatised but afterwards the response would be something along the lines of “I told you so”.

Then it moved onto a debate between Brennan and Booth over where they were going to have the baby, she wanted to have it at home and he wanted her to have it in a hospital. As it turned out neither of them got their way….not going to say where as I don’t want to spoil it for those of you who haven’t seen it yet.

There were a few comic moments courtesy of Daisy, floating eyeballs and Brennan. There was also a few gross moments such as Cam cutting into an eyeball, that is one of the main things that makes me cringe, anything to do with eyes, I even struggle putting things in both mine or the kids eyes. I don’t know if it is just the fact that they are watching you or what it is but am glad I don’t have to deal with them as part of my work.

For those of you who don’t know the title of this post means hello in Chinese or a literal translation would be “you well”. I am currently studying Chinese as part of my degree. When have completed this module I will have a GCSE grade proficiency in Mandrin – one of the many languages spoken in China. The main reasons I am studying Chinese is firstly I love languages, secondly Chinese is one of the main business languages and as I am in business it makes sense especially as I am looking to be able to trade internationally. Chinese is unlike any of the European languages that I have previously learnt so it is harder to learn but I will get there eventually.

There are those who are cynical about me learning languages as the main language across the world is English but my argument is this: when people come to this country people expect them to learn English so why when we go to other countries should we not speak their language? Chinese is a little more challenging as it does not have an alphabet, the title is written in pinyin (the romanised format)

Over the last week I have watched all of the Twilight movies, having read the books before I was pleasantly surprised by the fact that they largely stuck to the books; (I have a pet peeve about films that don’t particularly follow the books). Out of the 4 I think my least favourite is New Moon but it it is useful in building on the characters. The other thing is why does Robert Pattinson (aka Edward) look as though he is constipated throughout the films until about half way through Breaking Dawn part 1? I am interested in watching the 2nd part of Breaking Dawn when it is released.

Whilst some may criticise or ridicule me for liking Twilight I should point out that I was interested in them before all the hype and franchising started. I am one of those people who like things whether or not they are the latest thing or not. Sometimes the hype and franchising can actually ruin something that started off really well. Take Pirates of the Caribbean for instance, they took that too far…it was almost a case of making a film for the sake of it.

As a marketing consultant I am baffled when the adverts actually show you the best parts of the film; this I am glad to say was not the case with Twilight or any of the other films within the Saga. The only thing I don’t get is the merchandise that has come out since the films; for example the Barbie dolls – firstly they are creepy looking things, secondly last time I checked kids who are still playing with Barbies are not going to be familiar with Twilight given that they are all at least a 12 certificate.

I currently pay approximately £20 per month on payment protection insurance split between two credit cards. The whole point of payment protection insurance is to help with paying for these things if you encounter financial difficulties through unemployment or illness. Sounds quite useful doesn’t it?

Until recently I wasn’t aware that I was paying for PPI but when I discovered I was I thought I would utilise it as have been out of regular employment for almost a year and was struggling to keep up with the payments. Unfortunately I was informed that I was not eligible to use it because I was not made redundant and I wasn’t claiming Job Seekers Allowance. I am not claiming Job Seekers because of the thresholds set by the Government my household income is too high. So what exactly is the point in me paying for something that I can’t use?

Think may be investigating this idea of claiming as that is ridiculous.

For Lucie’s birthday this year she wanted a fancy dress disco and she wanted the adults to dress up too. When we looked into costumes for us (me and Wellsy) we couldn’t quite believe how much costumes are; to buy or rent you are looking at a minimum of £40

So I have started looking into cheaper options from charity shops etc hopefully we will find/make something there that doesn’t break the bank. I don’t understand why costumes have to be so expensive..am sure they would sell more if they were cheaper as people seem to be having more parties at home due to the current economic climate.

I went into town yesterday with my youngest; Holly, before we had even left the house she started acting like the mum. The first thing she did was tell me to put my coat and shoes on and then asked if I had my purse, phone, keys etc. Then on the way into town she told me I had to hold her hand and when we got to a road she told me that it was very dangerous and that I had to stop. When the road was clear she asked if it was ok to cross? She also talked me through the process of shopping and the other things we had to do.

It was really funny having a 2 year old basically copying what we have taught her. It’s nice to know that the stuff is sinking in and that someone listens to me, sometimes…. if only they would listen when I ask them to tidy their rooms.

This is the 4th film of the series and was surprisingly good – wasn’t that impressed with the 2nd and 3rd films. Whilst Johnny Depp is amazing in all of the films the story lines for those two were not as good. Am hoping that they stop making sequels to this as there are only so many you can do before people lose interest and it becomes boring and tedious, like the Saw series or things like Scary Movie and some may even say Final Destination.

Other interesting factoids from this film is that the actress they cast to play 1 of the main mermaids, Astrid Bergès-Frisbey didn’t speak English before this film. Just goes to show the lengths some will go to, to get the parts. Some will lose or gain stupid amounts of weight, others learn to play musical instruments etc. Whilst I see no problem with learning new skills and a role in a film is as good an incentive as any I fail to see how the losing and gaining weight for various roles is healthy. Penelope Cruz had a body double in the film as she was heavily pregnant – the double was her sister Monica Cruz.

Why is everyone so bothered about what it says on Facebook?

Not entirely sure what the fascination but everyone seems to broadcast their dirty washing on there. Within 2 minutes of my status being updated to (it’s going to be another long night . )I got bombarded with texts wanting to know the gossip. There was no gossip unless you count the fact that I couldn’t sleep, this is why I avoid posting anything that can be manipulated or used as gossip. In actual fact it is very rare that I write anything on my wall. It has also been in the news about people getting addicted to games such as Farmville, some argue that this is because of the easy access to things like this. Companies have blocked access to these sites as a result, this is partially to improve productivity. I suspect that this is also to prevent people broadcasting details relating to their work or colleagues during work time.

Businesses also feel the need to have both a Facebook page and a Twitter account however, there is a flaw with this because both of these are only of any use to existing customers, in some cases they aren’t appropriate at all due to the target demographic not using these sites.

A two year old girl is at home one day being looked after by her dad while mum is out shopping. The little girl has been given a tea set for her birthday and while her dad sits and watches the news, she goes off and comes back with a cup of water for him to drink. Being a good dad he drinks it and says “mmmm, lovely tea”. Off she trots to get him another cup of tea.

Later mum gets home and dad says “watch this, it’s so cute” as she comes back with her little cup full of water for daddy to drink. Again he drinks it and says “mmmm, yummy” and she toddles off happily.

Mum says “has it occured to you that the only place she can reach to get water is the toilet?”.
